Fired by the need to share the Gospel through radio and television ministry, Pastor Jose Orbe, Jr., director for communication at the North Philippine Union Conference (NPUC), has been conducting seminars for church communication officers unionwide. He came to Mountain Provinces Mission on September 15. With him were Nerio Carranza, person in charge of radio communication at NPUC, Janet Tolete, news and public affairs analyst of GMA7, and Winelfred Pasamba, professor of information technology at the Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP). Pastor Orbe said that NPUC will launch Hope Channel Philippines this year.
Undaunted by major setbacks to TV broadcasting, Pastor Orbe said that it is high time Filipino Adventists accepted the fact that television can speed up the spreading of the Gospel. He also said that through TV, Adventists can easily bring the Advent message to people in the upper echelon of society including both local and national government officials.
During the seminar, Pastor Orbe explained that members of the church nationwide can support this gigantic task by faithfully giving P20.00 or more every Sabbath for the next five years. This funding scheme will allow the church to build and develop other facilities needed to advance the TV ministry.
