It was a privilege for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Philippines to be one of the five religions in the country to offer the prayer during the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence on June 12, 2024 at Quirino Grandstand. Pastor Gerardo Cajobe, President of the Adventist Church across Luzon, prayed alongside various religious leaders from the Muslim community, Roman Catholic church, Protestant denominations and Iglesia ni Cristo.

Cajobe’s prayer focused on encouraging citizens to understand and live out the truth that the nation’s progress relies heavily on unity and solidarity among its people.

Cajobe shared that being invited to such government events is both humbling and an honor. “I am grateful for the opportunity to stand with other religious leaders and pray for our beloved country,” he said.

This is not the first time Cajobe has been invited to offer a prayer. He is scheduled to offer prayer at the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22, 2024. The personal invitation from Malacañang Palace to the Adventist Church leadership speaks of the positive relationship established between the church and the government. Adventists recognize the role of organized government and support its call for healing and unity.
