April - June 2019 | North Philippine Union Conference
The theme of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the year 2019 is Reach the World: Faithfulness to His Prophets. Why faithfulness to His prophets? It is for the simple reason that the prophets represent God. In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets (Heb. 1:1, NIV). The Scriptures testify that one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is the prophet. “For the equipping of the saints, for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:12, NKJV).
The 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church include the Gift of Prophecy as number 18. “This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church, and we believe it was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. Her writings speak with prophetic authority and provide comfort, guidance, instructions, and corrections to the church. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teachings and experiences must be tested” (Seventh-day Adventist Church Manual, p. 168).
Ellen G. White wrote 50 volumes of books with 25 millions of words that call to lift up Christ. I challenge the critics that if in reading her writings they will be led away from the Bible and from Christ, then stop reading her writings. But most of those reading her writings with open heart and mind enrich their Christian experience and have deeper relationship with Christ.
Her writings call for faithfulness in witnessing for Jesus and tell the world that Jesus is coming soon. Friends and fellow church members, I would like to make an appeal to everyone to take part in the Total Member Involvement (TMI) in proclaiming the good news of salvation.
Ellen G. White tells in Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 9 p. 117: “The work of God in this earth can never be finished until the men and women comprising our church membership rally to the work and unite their efforts with those of ministers and church officers.”
This year, part of the prophetic mission is to take good care of our family and lead our household to God. The world church acknowledges the centennial celebration of Family Ministries. Let our families work and speak for the everlasting love of Jesus. Tell them of the blessed hope in Him. There is no time to lose. Our young people can work with their parents in reaching other families for Christ. In different capacities, we can share God's love and influence other families for the soon appearing of our Lord and Savior, Jesus!
Seventh-day Adventist beliefs are meant to permeate your whole life. Growing out of scriptures that paint a compelling portrait of God, you are invited to explore, experience and know the One who desires to make us whole.
