NLM Involves Children in Philippines for Christ

Children ushered 21 new believers to Jesus

December 2018 |

 By Ardie T. Diaz

Northern Luzon Mission (NLM) believed that even the little ones can participate in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people in their territory. Through the Children’s Ministries (ChM) department, the youngsters led the first Children’s evangelistic crusade that resulted in the baptism of 21 new believers (20 kids and a mother).

Subscribing to the common adage “hitting two birds with one stone,” the ChM department conducted the children’s evangelism and the regular once-in-five- years Children’s Convention on April 1-7, 2018 at Central Pangasinan Adventist School, Mapandan, Pangasinan.

Themed “Adventures With Jesus,” the children of North Central Pangasinan district, under the leadership of Pastor Diosdado Estrańo gave their total involvement in the evangelistic meetings. From the song service down to the closing prayer, children from different churches rendered all the parts. Unfolding the CELEBRATIONS series, 12 kids delivered the health presentations, and 14 young speakers expounded the truth and the teachings of Jesus.

On the fifth day of the evangelistic meeting, 140 children and 45 adults from different districts registered for the convention. To commence the big event, delegates and guests joined the grand parade in the town proper of Mapandan. The synchronized music of the Drum and Lyre Corps of Central Pangasinan Adventist School and Manaoag Adventist School Inc. caught the attention of the passers-by and the town folks. Thanks to their trainers, Jewelson Ordońez and Nelson Benavidez.

Pastor Marvin C. Diaz, NLM President, recognized the contribution of the little children to the Philippines for Christ 2018. He encouraged them to continue to use their talents in sharing the love of Jesus, in spite of their young age.

For Friday break-out sessions, participants joined the different adventures: Bible Adventure, Music, Painting, Team Building and the Kid Chef Adventure conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) team of Binmaley, Pangasinan. They taught all delegates about food processing that could level up to the National Certification II.

Norlin Cadapan and Miriam Andres, CHM Director of North Philippine Union Conference (NPUC) and retired CHM Director of Southern Asia Pacific Division (SSD) respectively, provided separate lectures for adults regarding parenting. The Sabbath program was the most special part because the talents of the kids were showcased and offered to the Lord through leading out in the lesson review, giving sermons, singing in mass choir and participating in music festival. Praise the Lord for these kids who made themselves available to reach out and to be used mightily in the children’s ministry!
